Jason & Alice - friends, business partners

Jason and Alice met as language exchange partners on HelloTalk quickly becoming good friends. After visiting factories together, they formed a business partnership, creating Ailisi. Their venture blends East and West through their shared friendship and expertise in trade.

Jason Feng, from Shanwei, China, is an expert in management, international trade, and sourcing. With years of experience, he specialises in streamlining supply chains and negotiating competitive deals for clients. Jason liaises with factories across various industries, ensuring efficient, reliable processes. Jason oversees the QC and logistical team.

Alice Sip, from Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand, has an extensive history in sourcing for both her event company, homewares store and other clients. With years of experience in procurement, she specialises in finding unique, high-quality items that elevate events. Her keen eye for detail and strong supplier relationships ensure exceptional products for her clients.

Additionally, we’re working with ClimeCo to offset our carbon emissions, ensuring that our entire supply chain becomes carbon-neutral. By combining reforestation with carbon offsetting, we’re taking concrete steps to minimize our environmental footprint and help our clients do the same, aligning with a shared commitment to sustainability. Why Ailisi, and why source only for events?

When asked, "Why Ailisi, and why source for events?" our answer is simple: because we saw the opportunity to do better, and we took it.

Alice is the founder of Flock Events, New Zealand’s largest luxury event hire company. Through her experience visiting factories across Asia, she observed a striking difference between the standards of the West and the local approach to quality. Alice found many factories cutting corners—using subpar materials, ignoring design flaws, and compromising the durability of products. Farmhouse table legs snapped under pressure, wooden materials were substituted with low-grade alternatives, and structures were often questionably framed with plywood. She had plates scratched, or stems of glassware breaking while polishing. While she did see success with some partners, she also faced significant challenges.

At Ailisi, we resolved to set a new standard. We’ve carefully partnered with factories that not only deliver exceptional quality but also align with our sustainability values. We send our own fabrics to factories, allowing our partners to adhere to the Global Recycle Standard of fabrics and Oeko-Tex 100, ensuring that no micro-plastics or harmful dyes leave our factories. We are proud to contribute to climate-conscious manufacturing, always striving to minimize our environmental footprint.

Together with skilled makers and factory managers, we are constantly innovating—exploring better methods for crafting event goods that are not only durable and practical but also beautifully designed.
